LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR MICROORGANISMS Appendix M/1998/3.02 Appendix 6 VIABILITY CHECK BOOK After a strain has been preserved and its viability confirmed, a proposed date for the next viability check has to be recorded in the protocol forms available for the different types of preservation [ M/1998/3.00 Appendix 5.01.1, M/1998/3.00 Appendix 5.05.1, M/1998/3.00 Appendix 5.08.2]. These data have to be transferred to the Viability Check Book or to the computer database. Reference to these will ensure that the viability of the strain will be tested at the time proposed. Each laboratory responsible for the preservation of microorganisms keeps a separate Viability Check Book or enters data in the computer database. An example of a single page of a Viability Check Book is shown: Viability Check Book: to be tested ................................................ 199...
